Some great reviews for 2009 mc²

Newsflash!

mc² is in Tony Love's Top 100 wines for 2011 click here for more information.

90 points

Distinctive Personality - James Halliday

This medium-bodied wine does have a distinctive personality, with cassis, touches of mint and herb all intermingling, the tannins persistent but fine.

Overwhelming food friendliness

Drinks really well - Campbell Mattinson

It smells and tastes grassy, savoury, ashen. I expect these qualities don’t sound all that appealing – but they are...I like its line and length, and its overwhelming food-friendliness. The wine’s acidity is fresh and beautifully judged...this drinks really well – especially with a good cut of red meat.

Flexible, affordable & tasty!

Bistro Bravado - Tony Love

MC2 bottle shot

“The mc² represents merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc in a keenly crafted blend by French-born and trained Sandrine Gimon. Its pure berry beginnings and fragrant herb layers offer a genuine medium-bodied bistro style of red that goes a treat with a range of dishes, even richer seafood and poultry as well as game and lamb. It’s flexible, affordable and tasty. It even has its own website, www.mc2.com.au, with food ideas and more details.” News Limited capital city papers 10th July 2011

Outstanding value - Tony Keys

“The blend of grapes is just right, its classic Bordeaux and also classic Coonawarra 94 points and outstanding value at $20. For reasons that baffle me Rymill appears to fly just below the radar, I think its time due recognition was given. Perhaps one reason is the wines are such good value maybe a top end $50/75 is needed, they have the grapes and they have the skill.” The Key Review of Wine 11th July 2011

Has quite a following

Nicely balanced - Kerry Skinner

“A blend of cabernet sauvignon, merlot and cabernet franc that has quite a following and now even boasts its own website www.mc2.com.au and a smart new label. Crafted by winemakers Sandrine Gimon and Amelia Anderson and matured for 18 months in first to third-use French oak, it’s nicely balanced with bright red and black berry flavours, a core of spice and supple tannins. Drink with lamb casserole.” Grape Expectations 20th July 2011

You don't have to be Einstein for this

Goes ideally with almost anything on the table - David Ellis

“It’s best-known throughout Europe and the UK simply as Bordeaux Red, a blend of merlot, cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. It’s sold by the millions of bottles annually because of its affinity with a huge diversity of dining ideas from the more casual starts to the most decadent desserts. And now French-born and trained Sandrine Gimon is enticing us with and Australian Bordeaux Red that she’s created. As in France, this blend goes ideally with almost anything on the table, be it an oyster platter at Sunday brunch or an Asian duck and orange starter, mains of roast lamb, chicken cacciatore or a creamy mushroom risotto, or poached pears and decadent chocolate-dripped strawberries to end.  Pay $19.95 and have a look at www.mc2.com.au for some nice dining ideas, from casual or the more formal.” Various regional newspapers July 2011

It doesn't taken an Einstein to work out that if E stands for enjoyment, then E must certainly equal mc²

Chris Pen

“...Next in the range is the cleverly monikered “mc²”, so called because it contains Merlot and two kinds of Cabernet – Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. On the nose there is oak, cassis, chocolate, potpourri and a splash of Worcester sauce. The palate is really complex, with flavours of cassis, light vanillin, blueberry, dried herbs, Szechuan pepper, prune, mint and rich soy. The wine is nicely balanced with bitter and sweet elements, and a chocolatey smoothness with rustic corners. It doesn't take an Einstein to work out that that if E stands for enjoyment, then E must certainly equal “mc²”.” The Local Nose website June 30 2011
